On Saturday, August 20th, a Football Jamboree will be played with area Varsity football teams for Suicide Awareness. All proceeds will benefit Elyssa's Mission. Games begin at 10:30am at Andrew High School in Tinley Park, IL hosted by the Tinley Park Bulldogs!
Elyssa’s Mission® provides resources to help prevent teen suicide. The community-based organization was founded in 2006 in honor of Elyssa, a bright, gifted and outgoing Chicagoland girl who bravely battled post-traumatic stress disorder and depression. Elyssa’s Mission® provides hands-on support to area public and private schools and community organizations in order to educate students, staff and parents on how to recognize and assist those teens most at-risk. We have educated over 1,000,000 community members since inception. We are currently in over 300 schools throughout the Chicagoland area.
Elyssa’s Mission® funds and implements the evidence-based SOS Signs of Suicide® Program in over 300 middle and high schools in Illinois through our partnership with MindWise Innovations®, a Massachusetts-based organization that pioneered the concept of large-scale mental health screening and education programs.
The SOS Program teaches students to recognize potentially suicidal behavior and how to ACT®:
- Acknowledge the signs of suicide
- Care – Let your friend know you care about him or her
- Tell a trusted adult
Using a DVD and accompanying discussion guide as interactive teaching tools, the SOS program informs teens that depression is a treatable illness, and empowers them to seek help from a trusted adult if they are concerned about themselves or a friend. As a crucial next step, students complete the program’s life-saving screening tool that enables school staff to identify at-risk students and link them to services. We assist with all components of the SOS program including planning, teaching and training for staff and parents. Elyssa’s Mission® is committed to growing its partnerships with schools and their communities to reach our common goal of providing suicide prevention education to our students, staff and parents.
Elyssa’s Mission® is a 501c(3) non-profit organization located at
900 Skokie Blvd., Suite 120, Northbrook, Illinois 60062 (847) 697-9181

3 ways your child will benefit from playing youth football Players benefit physically, socially and emotionally from playing football
Football is blue-collar America. It’s working class, working together.
In this game – America’s favorite game – there are no isolation plays that cast a team aside. Nor are there intentional walks to avoid an obstacle.
In life, like in football, the easy route is rarely an option.
